What makes Break Escapes different?

This is no ordinary sightseeing tour. You’ll go on exclusive adventures in the world’s most iconic cities with insider access that your friends and family could only dream of. Hit all the hot spots, must-sees, and secret hideaways—without the hassle of planning. We handle everything, right down to a local guide on the ground who knows each destination inside and out. And unlike other programs, you won’t be packed in a hostel, sleeping with one eye on your suitcase. You’ll have just one roommate in a three- or four-star hotel.

How do I book my Escape?

It’s easy! Browse our website for your perfect school break trip. Once you’ve found it (or if you have more questions), fill out the contact form for updates or reach out directly to one of our trip advisors. Our team can help you pick a destination, discuss payment options, and generally make the entire process super simple.

Can my friends come, too?

Absolutely. You can bring as many friends as you’d like and request your roommate. Booking your adventure with a group will even save you some cash. If you’re planning to travel with your friends from college, chat with one of our advisors and they’ll make sure you get a discount. And if you end up traveling solo, don’t worry! This is group travel for young adults, so you’ll meet tons of new people on your trip.

Finances

How much is the program fee? What does it cover?

The fee for each seven-day, six-night adventure varies by location, but each includes premium hotel accommodations each night, most meals, exclusive cultural excursions led by local guides, and so much more.

What about flights?

Your flights are one of the few things not included in the program fee. Your trip advisor will, however, provide you with the directions and support to make booking transportation as simple as possible. And when you first touch down at your destination, our team will be at the airport waiting to welcome you.

What is the refund and transfer policy?

If the trip is cancelled by WorldStrides for any reason, you are entitled to a full refund. Should you cancel for any reason up to 14 days out, you’ll receive a full refund less a $300 deposit. Cancellation 7-14 days out results in a 50% refund, and cancellation within six days or less will result in no refund. You may transfer names on the tour reservation up to two days before departure.

Travel

How do I get to my destination?

Many major airlines (American, Delta, and United) offer direct international flights from major U.S. cities. For European trips, time in the air will be approximately 6.5 to 8 hours.

Do I need a passport or visa?

You’ll need a current passport with an expiry date at least six months after the program end date. If you’ll be applying for a new one, please allow six to eight weeks to receive it, as processing times do vary. No visas are required for these shorter trips.

What can I expect the day I arrive?

When you arrive at your destination, a private group shuttle will depart from your location’s designated airport (the exact time will depend on your trip). In your pre-departure information, there will be a map indicating where to meet the group. Should you choose to fly outside of suggested times or don’t want to use the shuttle, directions to the hotel will also be available.

Health & Safety

Is this trip safe?

Your safety is a top priority on all our adventures. We’ll be following all local city ordinances for both crowd controls and COVID-19 protocols. Our tour leaders and local guides know the cities extremely well so as to avoid any potential trouble spots. They’ll also be available 24/7 to respond to any critical incident or events. Alongside our on-the-ground leaders, an emergency assistance hotline complements the WorldStrides Doctors on Call and Mental Health counseling lines.

Do I need to be vaccinated to go on the trip?

We will require proof of full vaccination* submitted prior to departure. Depending on your destination, local restrictions may also require a recent negative COVID-19 test. We will inform you of these guidelines and mandates ahead of travel and assist you in complying with them.

*According to the CDC, in general, people are considered fully vaccinated:

  • Two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or
  • Two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine

The day to day

What should I bring?

Please check only one bag for ease of transport to and from the airport. Pack cleverly to ensure items have multiple uses and leave some space in your suitcase for any souvenirs you want to bring home. We recommend utilizing a backpack as a carry-on, as it will come in handy as your daytime bag for an extra sweater or water bottle as you explore the city. You’ll receive in your pre-departure materials a more detailed packing list specific to the country’s climate.

Where will I be staying?

Accommodations for each tour have been carefully selected for their location, safety, amenities, and charm. European stays will be three- and four-star hotels conveniently situated amid attractions and local gems.

Do you make meal accommodations?

We make every effort to meet the dietary needs of all our travelers, provided the request is submitted at least two weeks prior to the start of your adventure. You'll have the opportunity to make any special dietary requests when you complete your Traveler Information Form.
